Tell Us About Your Trip / Re: Thomas the train, Medina NY
« on: May 21, 2013, 02:39:03 PM »
Sorry, I just wanted to update this with a new photo we took of Thomas and my bus together.
It was another fun time, well for the last part of it. The first weekend of the event we had rain / sleet / hail and snow showers.... kind of depressing.
But the second weekend we had the sun and warmer temps back. Plus I had two more of those huge burgers.

Hope to be at the July ~19/20/21 July ~ 26/27/28 Thomas the train in St Thomas/ London Ontario Canada.

Yep, if you came down Rt 31 I’m right there at the Train station parking lot. ‘Thomas the train’ will be here for another weekend, then I’m heading home for a few days. It actually was snowing here Sunday a bit. It got everyone really down and miserable.
But I had my ‘MoJo’ burger at Rudy’s. It’s a 1 pound burger on a half loaf of Italian bread with bacon and fries. If you finish it you get your name on the wall….I’m on there 3 times now. I was so hungry I forgot to take a pic of it. Had to top it off with a strawberry ice cream cone too.
You should have stopped in.

We will see you down the road….

All MCI Bus Discussions / Re: question about window glass in MCI-9....
« on: April 27, 2013, 10:32:57 AM »
That's what bowling balls are for, not tiny hammers.
I'm going to create a template that will be the size of the glass - then make a metal edge or spacer to be around a factory made RV window (in a standard size of 48 x 24) so that all is the same size as the original glass piece. I want a sliding opening or other options for the new window. Also to have a spare in case of a window breaking, to then use as a quick fix.
So this new RV window will be sitting in the old frame so I can still use the emergency exit option of the existing frame.
thanks

All MCI Bus Discussions / question about window glass in MCI-9....
« on: April 18, 2013, 08:01:17 PM »
Has anyone taken the glass out of the window frame of a MCI-9?
I'm wondering about that gasket and whats under it?
If I can get the glass out in one piece?

Thanks

Tell Us About Your Trip / Dyngus day Buffalo NY 2013
« on: April 04, 2013, 03:13:30 PM »
I was gonna say this is the start of the travelin season for myself but we already had a trip with the Groundhog day event in February this year. St Patricks day I don’t have anyone that can drive my big bus and was the only day of the year that I drink, so we take the van out on our pub crawl that day with a driver. Then comes the first Monday after the Easter holiday. This is a Polish holiday called Dyngus day.
www.dyngusdaybuffalo.com/
this is LAST years event in 70 degree weather...

It’s that tradition of pussywillows and spraying of water on the legs, also the one day of the year that it was ok for girls to ask guys to marry them. The history goes way back and seems harmless.
Well it turns out that Buffalo NY with it’s well established Polish neighborhoods is the city that celebrates this the most. #1 in the USA and the World. Even Poland doesn’t  come close to what we do here. I think that is the same way with St Patty’s day, where they don’t think of it as a holiday but here in the USA, we use it more as a drinking holiday.
So we started out at 3pm at the historic Buffalo Central terminal. Bus parking at the terminal but on the south side is best and get there befor 4pm or your blocked in.
http://www.buffalocentralterminal.org/

A huge antique former railroad passenger stop that is trying to be saved from destruction. The building is just awesome. They hold a few events here, my favorite is the Halloween bash.
Well the weather was dang cold like 20 degrees with a brisk wind. We had on & off snow showers that at a couple times during the parade were just about whiteout conditions. The parade was…bizarre. It had the Buffalo mayor and other dignitaries, even good ole Chuck Schumer was here. Then a few fire trucks / a 1990’s ford pickup with a 20ft dragon on it / some Polish dancers / some drunkin goof on snow mobile trailers / a float with an Anderson Cooper fake guy sitting on a toilet with a kings crown on his head (see pic below) / even a dump truck with more drunkin goofs on that pulling a large pontoon boat with even more drunk people on that / some zombies / and a lot of people wacking eachother with pussywillows. Ok, so it’s another drinking holiday for America = Tyskie.

the whole story here … http://www.allthingsandersoncooper.com/2013/04/anderson-cooper-360-monday-4113-dyngus.html

Everything was in outdoor tents. $10 to get in but had bus passes to other events, like 25 other bars and such celebrating. Free parking but limited. $5 tallboys. It was an all day event. Dress per the weather !!!
They had a lot of great polka music going and a few perogies going on. Red is the main color for the event. All in all it was a great time.
Sorry no pics from me as the camera died and needs to be replaced soon. Will be back next year.
So heres to the up coming bus season. Lets get out there and see what we can see. Hopefully without a tow bill.

one year we counted some 60 billboards going oneway and about that heading the other. It kept the boredom down in that area.
My buddies were just talking about going to a race but farther south. Maybe I can talk them into PA instead.
You will be driving right past the house, I'll wave when you pass by, or stop on in.

I was thinking of cutting the top part off of mine, leaving the air ride base. Put a new deck on and attach a different one that I had in a bus I really enjoyed.
Can't be that difficult ?

Best picture ever ! LOVE the shot of the bus and the tower.
South of the Border is an awesome place. The wholesale price of all the plastic touristy crapp there is probably $300 but there is so much of it. Do they still have the many upon many billboards leading up to it ?
Dang I'm jealous.

I was there some 35 yrs ago. Had a blast as a kid. We went armadillo hunting in the park at night. Kind of crazy now knowing of gators and such.
Watch for bringing critters back with ya like those little lizards.
The weather looks rather good for friday around here in the Buffalo area. You should be ok to pass on through. Good luck in your travels and take pics of the bus in the vacation fun.

Welcome welcome,
I must say that I just love the area your parked in. I have friends in Ajax Ont and have always wanted to see the lift lock in Peterborough. This is way cool. It's where they take  the whole boat lock and lift it to the canal connection. Yes your boat and the water it's sitting in.

I've spent many summers in Lake Concecon and the Sandbanks are just incredible. My favorite spot is the Rideau canal system - Chaffey lock - Indian Lake. I try to do a lap around Lake Ontario every couple of years, to see my old hangouts.

Hope to meet up with you all someday.
