How's it going Dave?
Yes you can use your existing inverter. On my setup... I use the solar to charge the batteries only. I wired my controller before my battery disconnect so that when I shut everything down, the solar will still maintain the batteries. If you have a good controller, it won't over charge the batteries. Your inverter just runs off of the batteries so it won't matter which one you have. I'm hoping it will cut down on my generator time ;)

Gary do you need an inverter for solar besides the one we have for regular DC -AC? In other words can you use the same one for both? That has always cornfused me.

Well the summer is about to start and my wife, son and I are looking forward to getting a lot of use out of our bus.

So far we have planned:

May 3-5 - Lindsay Automotive Flea Market and Car Show

June 6-10 - Pocono Speedway for Race Weekend

June 21 - 23 - Gananoque Ontario (Visit Boldt Castle again)

July 6 - 17 - Mackinaw City, Traverse City and Muskegon Michigan

Still trying to decide on May and August long weekends.

We really really really like our bus.  No regrets at all in this purchase.

I'm with you.... I can't handle a dirty engine bay either. I got my Detroit paint at Napa. I spent all day wiring in my new ProStar solar controller yesterday and then got started on the engine bay also. I wish I had a shop so I could just remove the engine and do it right, but I don't. I feel I'm wasting my time because up here in Alaska the roads are very dirty. With the engine in the rear, everything just gets sucked up in there.

Good luck with the project, It's looking good already!

I would remove it, It makes a lot of extra room in the engine compartment. Good luck Jason

Hi all, I got my estimate back 3500 should cover it they were not sure due to the age of the bus and wanted to give worst case. They would not give best case.
