diesel question
« on: April 21, 2012, 02:40:03 PM »
Not sure on how this question will go over here but......
anyone running that ((cough))''kool-aid  ::) ''((cough)) ......if you know what I mean, in their fuel tank ?? at $3.80 vs $4.49 a gallon it's looking better and better to me. I've only been stopped once for a company I drove for. This i.r.s. person wanted to check my tank. They told me the fine was $20,000. I said when I'm pumping fuel into my tank, how the heck would I know what color my fuel is ?? Back then the company had fuel tanks on our property. How would I know what they put in there ?? but the agent said the ticket / fine would go to me for putting it in.
I figure the filters would need to be changed more often but anyother issues ?

just a curious question I had today, ''off-roading'' in my bus  :o

From what i have been told, even if you run 5-6 full tanks of regular fuel thru it after using the "other" type, they can still detect it and give you a ticket.  Could even impound your bus and sell it.  Is it worth it to save a couple of bucks????  As the old British saying goes, "penny wise and pound foolish".  Or in our country, "spending a dollar to save a dime".  A couple of years ago they had a check station set up just north of Yuma and required any and all diesel powered vehicles to stop to be checked. They were trying to catch any of the snowbirds coming down for the winter that were using the other diesel.

Well if I add blue to the red, it will make green  :-\

I swear a few years back when the fuel prices started getting out of hand, I saw a TV news story where the state was going to allow us to use the off road in the tanks. Of course I can't find that story now but do remember putting it in my tank back then.

I also see that the Indian's have a tiny little sign stating that their gas has no Ethanol added to it. I know the issues with Ethanol, and the machines that sit for months, like my generator. So if they sell gas like that without saying so, I'm a tad worried about what diesel is in my tank.

I'll be a good son and pay the bill.

Good idea to pay up. I have heard of vehicles getting seized, along with hefty fines. Not going there.

It is not really that diesel prices are hurting you, but rather it is the limit of your resources.  One could deal with that on the output side by using red diesel.  You could do the same by spending less elsewhere.  Do people really need what you buy them for Christmas, for example?  Also, you could work on it from the input side like playing the violin on the street or selling drugs.  We just don't go as far and camp cheap when possible.

Using red diesel is similar to doing many other sorts of illegal things.  I would guess a lot of people mind the law for fear of getting caught rather than ethical considerations, but it sure helps keep the murder rate down.
